Description

The Kiwanis Club of Bakersfield was chartered on February 13, 1922. Currently, the club has no Charter Members.

Weekly luncheon meetings are held on Monday from 12:00-1:00 PM at Hodel's Olive Drive.

On May 19, 2011, Jack Baily was presented the 2010-11 Distinguished Service Award by CNH Dist. Gov. Tom Millham & Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Kathy Orrin.

In the past to provide funds for Community Service Account, Bakersfield Kiwanis Club has used the following fund-raisers: Sale of Pistachios, Reverse Drawing, Bowl-a-thon and Food Sales at Rosedale Wal-mart at bicycle contest.

Some Community Service Projects include: Value enhancement program, Bakersfield Rescue Mission, Special Olympics, Finger printing of children, Teenage Pregnancy Program, Salvation Army, Collection and distribute books for family literacy program, Collect baby items to give to young mothers, Help out at the school track meets, Jamison Center, Boy & Girls Scouts, and Junior Achievement.

The Bakersfield High Key Club is part of the Service Leadership Program (SLP).

As of 9/30/10 in the WSP/IDD program, the Bakersfield Club has given $4,474.69 or helped 89,494 kids from IDD. They rank 9th in Div. 33.

In the Div. 33 Bloodmobile Project (5/13/04), Div. 33 has raised $100,515.30 (or 100.11%) of the $101,400 cost to purchase a 3-bed unit for Houchin Blood Service. We have donated $2,205.00 (or 2.17%) and rank 13th place. Our Thousand Dollar Club members and order are as follows: Sec. & PP Bob Doozan (16) and Bakersfield Kiwanis Club (42).
