Governor's staff and the Presidents and Secretaries of the 12 clubs meet every month with each club hosting or co-hosting on the 3rd Thursday - Meeting starts @ 6:00 p.m. and Dinner @ 6:30 p.m. During the 9 months, our Division 33 clubs donated $58,800 to local charities and WSP / IDD (or $135 per member) and its 432 club members (-2) contributed 21,766 hours to community service (or 50 hours per member). On October 29, 1998, the Southwest Bakersfield Club was officially organized after two pre-organization meetings held at the Southwest Lanes. This is the ninth club in Bakersfield with 30 paid names on the official Kiwanis Petition. 1998-99 Cal-Nev-Ha District Governor Bob Maurer has picked the following four Chairs from Division 33 for his "Be Someone's Angel" team:

The Kern Kiwanis Club held their 5th annual Million Dollar Hole-In-One Shootout at Stroke Cutters Driving Range on June 3-6, 1999 under Chair PSDLG John W. Stephenson. The golf ball sales for community service are as follows: 1995 - $13,514, 1996 - $14,637, 1997 - $14,945, 1998 - $15,068 and 1999 - $16,111.

Year 1997-98:

As of September 30, 1998, Cal-Nev-Ha Division 33 has a membership of 448 men and women Kiwanians. Under the leadership of 1997-98 Lt. Governor Rudy Arambula (South Bakersfield), our clubs donated $184,013 to local charities and WSP / IDD (or $411 per member) and its club members contributed 18,560 hours to community service (or 41 hours per member). Congratulations to the top three clubs last year: Community Service Dollars; 1st - Rosedale @ $856/Mem., 2nd - Tehachapi @ $819/Mem. & 3rd - Kern @ $621/Mem. And Community Service Hours; 1st Golden K @ 77 Hrs./Mem., 2nd - Tehachapi @ 69 Hrs./Mem. & 3rd - Bakersfield @ 67 Hrs./Mem.

In 1997-98, Cal-Nev-Ha Division 33 completed it's eleventh year of 100 percent club donations to the following: Cal-Nev-Ha District Foundation - Founder's Day and Kiwanis International Foundation - Birthday Celebration. This has been achieved under the direction of PDLG Phil Niederauer (Westchester), Foundation Ambassador. In addition, the Distinguished Service Awards have been successfully promoted with 1995-96 - 13 awards, 1996-97 - 10 awards and 1997-98 - 11 awards. The 1997-98 DSA's are pictured above: (L-R) Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Reid Allen Jr.). Two DSA's are not in the above picture: PE Ruth McClain (Golden K Rosewood-Kern City) and IPP Filmore Bender (South Bakersfield).

Each year the Oildale Kiwanis Club hosts the Division 33 Blood Drive at their Wednesday meeting before Thanksgiving under the Chairmanship of Bill Altmiller. The week long promotion gives Kiwanis the publicity while obtaining over 50 pints of blood for the Houchin Community Blood Bank.
