October 13, 2007: The Delano Club held their Retirement & Installation Dinner at El Defin Restaurant at the Airport, Social - 6:20 p.m. & Dinner - 7:15 p.m.
October 18, 2007: Div. 33 DCM was hosted by Tehachapi Pres. Don Bowman at Holiday Inn Express, 901 Capital Hills Parkway, Networking - 6:00 p.m. & Dinner - 6:30 p.m. (Middle) The clubs in attendance were as follows: Bakersfield (0), Delano (3/1), East Bakersfield (0), Golden K (2), Kern (8), Oildale (6/2), Rosedale (3), Shafter (0), South Bakersfield (5), Taft (0), Tehachapi (8), Westchester (6)and KIWIN'S Ruby Div. November 7, 2007: Div. 33 Teen Government Day was hosted by Bakersfield Club Pres. John Surface at Hodel's Buffet Dining, Olive Drive & Hwy. 99 - Noon. Judge Mike Bush, the event coordinator and member of the Bakersfield Club, introduced the Div. 33 Clubs, High Schools and Government Officials in attendance.
November 11, 2007: Kern Veterans Memorial unveiling ceremony was held at Truxtun and "S" Street - 4:00 p.m. Kiwanis Clubs Division 33 are listed as one of the major donors. Photos
November 12, 2007: Kern Kiwanis Club held their 3rd Annual Pro-Am Golf Classic at Bakersfield Country Club. Photos & Flyer Chair Joe Muller thanked ENSIGN United States Drilling (California) Inc. as our Presenting Sponsor with this event benefitting M.A.R.E Riding Center & other fine charities.
November 15, 2007: Div. 33 DCM was hosted by South Bakersfield Pres. November 21, 2007: Kiwanis Blood Drive Day was held at Hodel's Buffet Dining, Olive Drive & Hwy. 99 - 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. FREE Lunch to Donors plus a FREE Cholesterol Test. "Half Pint" the new Kiwanis 3-bed Bloodmobile will be available. Celebrity Guest Appearance by Kevin McCarthy, 22nd Congressional District. Topic: "What's going On in Congress." If you can not give blood on this Wednesday, be sure to donate anytime during the week at either Houchin Blood Bank locations and tell them Chair Bill Altmiller "Captain Blood" sent you. March 15, 2008: The Region 11 Trustee Election Conference was held at Alicia's Café in Hanford CA with PLG Gene Sheesley (Div. 18) as Election Chairperson. (Middle Middle-Right) 2007-08 Div. 18 Lt. Gov. Alan Guire & Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Fuchsia Ward announced that the results of balloting had elected Jim Koontz (Div. 18) as Region 11 Trustee for a 2 year term (2008-10). (Middle Right) Div. 33 delegates and guests were transported to and from Hanford by Amtrak. Also, we were transported by vintage Hanford Fire Trucks to Alicia's Café. May 3-4, 2008: 2008 Bakersfield ACS Relay For Life was held at CSUB. It is the 2nd largest with over 4,800 people, 320 teams, 1,500 cancer survivors in purple T-shirts and $1,400,000 exceeding their goal. June 21, 2008: Co-hosts Div. 18 LG Alan Guire (FL Melissa) and Div. 33 LGD Mona Millington held the 1st Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha District Region 11 CLE Training for 2008-09 Club Presidents and Secretaies at Delano Regional Medical Center. (Bottom Left) Fruit, rolls and drinks were served at 8:00 a.m. The CLE Training conducted by CNH Found. Pres. "Dick" Olmstead, Jr. from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with lunch served at noon.
