A high priority for this club is youth projects such as Key Club, Boy Scouts, The Link Award project with Kern County Probation Department, Jr. High and Middle School Citizenship Awards, Bethany Services Homeless Shelter Meal Service, and Special Olympics.

Club Contacts for each project include: The Foothill High Key Club Advisors are PP John Wilson for Foothill, Jerry Beckwith for Garces Memorial High, and Dr. Norm Lohr for Highland High Key Club. George Cuneo is an inspiration to this club and has been instrumental in making sure these clubs have sponsorship and support. East Bakersfield Kiwanis also sponsors a Boy Scout Troop…Troop 188 and John Wilson is our liaison to this troop of boys. Bill Hardcastle works with the probation department to provide the Link Award which is designed to reward youth who are on probation and doing well in the program. The Citizenship Awards is an annual project to highlight a boy and girl from over 30 jr high and middle schools who exemplify good citizenship. John Wilson is the project coordinator. Jerry Beckwith coordinates our support of the Garces High special kids day. And Dona Baker was instrumental last year in our Giraffe Bed Project Fundraising. This project raised funds for specialized equipment needed by Memorial Hospital to help premature babies. Dona was named the Kiwanian of the Year of Division 33 for her efforts.
