Div. 33 Lt. Governors Retirement & Installation Dinner was held at DoubleTree Hotel, and the MC was PDLG Phil Niederauer. 2011-12 Cal-Nev-Ha District Gov. Richard "Dick" Olmstead retired 2010-11 Lt. Gov. Kathy Orrin (Taft) and installed 2011-12 Lt. Gov. Joe Johnson (Westchester). Retiring 2010-11 Lt. Gov. Kathy Orrin thanked all: Div. 33 Club Presidents & Committee Chairs, Div. Sec. Adele Ward and Region 11 Trustee Walter Morton (2010-13). (Middle) First Lady Cheryl Olmstead's Project is supporting 6 Partner Hospitals, and Gov. Richard Olmstead's Team is "Carrier of Service". In attendance from Div. 33 Clubs were: Bakersfield (2), Delano (3/1), Golden K (2), Kern (4/1), Oildale (6/2), Rosedale (2/1), Shafter (0), South (4), Taft (5/2), Tehachapi (3) & Westchester (22/17). Kern's held a very sucessful Rummage Sale at Mill Creek Christian Church. President Shirley Ventura held her 2011-12 Training at Mill Creek Christian Church from 9:00 a.m. to 12 Noon with Breakfast and Lunch being provided.

Kern Kiwanis Club Children's Welfare Chairman Lynn Finch, President Shirley Ventura, and Past Lt. Gov. John Stephenson attended the dedication ceremony of the new playground at the C.W. Richardson Child Development Center. The dedication wall at the center recognizes Kern Kiwanis Club and the many other community donors who made the wonderful new structures and equipment possible. Kern Club has been a long time supporter of the school with donations of toys, equipment, supplies, books, etc. to benefit the hundreds of special needs children served by the center. Photos

2011 Kiwanis Div. 33 Blood Drive was held at Hodel's in Kern Room from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Captain Blood Bill Altmiller said the Celebrity Guest Speaker was Bakersfield's Assistant Chief of Police Lyle Martin on "Law Enforcement in our home town." Kern Kiwanis Club's Salvation Army Kids Christmas Party was on December 5, 2011. Chair Lynn Finch's Children's Welfare committee planned the event with SA Major Carol Abella. Steve Snitchler provided gift wrapping space. PP John Wagner delivered the gifts & was Santa Claus with Kern helpers (10) & spouses (3). PE Cecilia Provensal transported cookies & provided table greens. PP Reuben Perttula organized the goodie-bag handout. PSDLG John Stephenson Sr. took photos. Additional helpers were: KIWIN'S Key Club members East Bakersfield HS (2) + Ridgeview HS (2) and Bethel Christian HS (4). The singers were members of the Bakersfield High School acapella singers. The Omnipresent Puppet Theater provided the puppet show "The Travelers" which was loosely based on the journey of the 3 Wise Men to Bethleham with many homorous events along the way! Photos
