- Div. 33 DCM was hosted by Southwest Pres. Marvin Fuller, Jr. at Bakersfield Petroleum Club, Social - 6:30 p.m. & Dinner - 7:00 p.m. Kern Club members attending were: Pres. David Rogers, DeeAnn Barricklow, Shirley Ventura, PP Rueben Perttula, PSDLG John Stephenson and John Stephenson, Jr. In addition, 2004-05 KIWIN'S LTG Melissa Pina (EBHS) was escorted by her Regional Advisor PSDLG John Stephenson. - Judge Mike Bush (Bakersfield) Chaired Teen Government Day on November 3, 2004, Norris Road Veterans Hall, Noon. This is an annual event, and this year Div. 33 Kiwanis Clubs celebrated the 50th year since its' beginning. The event was the hosted by South Bakersfield Kiwanis Club Pres. Elect Ron Church with Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Joe Whitby giving the Invocation. Kern Club members attending were: PSDLG John Stephenson and PP Ed Wilson.

- Mayor Hall asked once again for volunteers to help pick up trash on Freeway on and off ramps. We met at Stockdale Park & Ride around 8:30 a.m. Transportation to the clean up sites was provided. EBHS KIWIN'S had 8 members participating with 8 Kern Kiwanis members.

- Kern's Christmas Party was at the Noriega House, 1325 Bakers St. It is a Pot Luck with Pres. David Rogers providing the BBQ meat. Chairs Oleta Collins and Susan Handy asked you sign-up now for a fun, "jolly" evening.

- Pasadena Rose Parade Kiwanis Float "We are Family." KIWIN'S Ruby Div. LTG Melissa Pina organized decorating our Kiwanis Rose Float in Pasadena on Dec. 29, 2004. East Bak. HS - 6 members and Ridgeview HS - 1 member were driven in a school van by Regional Advisor John Stephenson. We were two hours late because of snow closed I5. Photos

- Div. 33 DCM was hosted by Kern Pres. David Rogers at Double Tree, 3100 Camino Del Rio Ct., Social - 6:00 p.m. & Dinner - 6:30 p.m. The Lt. Gov. Joe Whitby is shown with Kern Pres. David Rogers. (Middle Left) The Div. 33 Young Children, Priority One Committee's new program is "WEE PEE." The program is a $40,000 fund-raiser to purchase a new and improved "isolette" for use in caring for premature babies, replacing an obsolete unit in the Pediatric Intensive Care Ward at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. Susan Handy (Kern) will be spearheading this drive together with Lt. Gov. Joe Whitby. They will work closely with Caryl Schweitzer, Executive Director of the Bakersfield Memorial Foundation. The clubs in attendance were as follows: Bakersfield (6/1), Delano (1), East Bakersfield (2), Golden K (1), Kern (14/1), Oildale (2), Rosedale (0), Shafter (4), South Bakersfield (2), Southwest Bakersfield (0), Taft (4), Tehachapi (6/1), Westchester (4) & Guests (2).

- During the 26th annual Bakersfield Junior Miss Scholarship Program, Bakersfield High School Student Rachel Paine wowed judges and won the title of Bakersfield's Junior Miss, Class of 2006. Ashley Knauer, Bakersfield's Junior Miss 2005 presented Paine with her new title and $3,000 cash scholarship at the competition held at Standard Middle School Auditorium. The program honored Kern member Willis Lazelle. Willis Lazelle "Mr. Junior Miss" will always be remembered as a vital part and tireless support of the BJM Scholarship Program. - The 29th Cal-Nev-Ha KIWIN'S Key Club District Convention was held at the Santa Clara Marriott Hotel. The theme was "Roaring into the Jungle of Service" with Safari hats and arm bands. KIWIN'S Ruby Regional Advisor John Stephenson provided transportation for 2004-05 LTG Melissa Pina and 2005-06 LTG Daniel Munn. Key Club Faculty Advisor Elise Palos provided school van transportation for 7 EBHS KIWIN'S members. Take a look.

- The 90th Kiwanis International Convention was held in Honolulu, Hawaii from July 2-5, 2005. Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Joe and FL Nadine Whitby lead 7 clubs with 15 Kiwanians and 9 guests in support of KI President Elect Nelson and Elva Tucker. Take a look.

- Cal-Nev-Ha KIWIN'S Key Club District held their Summer Board meetings on the Cal Poly campus. Ruby Div. LTG Daniel Munn (East Bakersfield HS) was driven by Regional Advisor PSDLG John Stephenson. KIWIN'S Governor Chris Garsevanyan (Glenndale HS) lead his 18 member board in preparing for a year of community service and the 30th District Convention. KCI Trustee Luke Ballek was in attendance.
