Div. 33 DCM was hosted by Southwest Pres. Cindy Horst at Bakersfield Petroleum Club - 2nd Floor, Social - 6:00 p.m. & Dinner - 6:30 p.m. The clubs in attendance were as follows: Bakersfield (4), Delano (0), East Bakersfield (1), Golden K (2), Kern (8/1), Oildale (4), Rosedale (3), Shafter (1/1), South Bakersfield (5), Southwest Bakersfield (8/2), Taft (1/1), Tehachapi (4), Westchester (3). A blackout didn't deter the dinner table conversation which went none stop.

On Sunday, a Welcome Party with 20 Celebrities was held at Buck Owens Crystal Palace (6:00 p.m.). On Monday, Kern Kiwanis Club's Inaugural Celebrity Golf Tournament chaired by Lance Horton was held at Seven Oaks Country Club Golf Course with a Shotgun Scramble (9:30 a.m.) plus an Auction & Awards Luncheon (2:30 p.m.). The 2005 East Bakersfield HS KIWIN'S Key Club held their Safe Halloween project at Pioneer Village #7 Pinkney House. Ruby Div. LTG Daniel Munn and EBHS Pres. Annie Hatley with 10 additional KIWIN'S members worked from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day. Ruby Regional Advisor & Kern Kiwanis Advisor PSDLG John Stephenson supervised this successful event. Mayor's Freeway Cleanup was held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. with Lt. Gov. Wayne Deats, Jr. and Mayor Harvey Hall welcoming 12 Kiwanians at the Stockdale Park & Ride (west of Oak Street, east of Real Road, next to Kaiser Permanente). The Div. 33 Clubs and members working today were: Bakersfield (PP Sheila Hayden), East Bakersfield (Dona Baker & D.J. Whipple), Golden K (Sec. Chair Chris Strong made his final update on our “2005 We Build to Give Thanks” food basket program. "We were able to put together and deliver 16 baskets this year. Our goal was 10. This is just another example why the Kern Kiwanis is the “Greatest Club in the Universe”. You guys and women did an outstanding job. Next year I say we shoot for 25 families." Children's Welfare Chair Lynn Finch held Kern's Salvation Army Kid's Christmas Party at 4417 Wilson Road from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Cookies and punch were served by 32 Elves: Kern members (15), guests (7), EB Key Club (7) and EB KIWIN'S (4). Entertainment was provided by Magic of Ron Saylor and the Hillcrest Mens Chorus. After Santa gave each child a Christmas gift, stocking were given by Mish Funeral Home - Oildale (Nancy Hudgins) and chips by Frito Lay (PP Rueben Perttula). Photos .

In the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha District Magazine on page 9, the following article on EBHS KIWIN'S Key Club members was featured: "The East Bakersfield High KIWIN'S Club in December packed 1,200 family boxes for the Salvation Army, and also helped with their present-wrapping and Christmas party. Club members also assisted with roadside cleanup at two freeway offramps. And the month started with members carrying banners in the local Bakersfield Christmas Parade, and ended with nine members traveling to Pasadena to decorate Rose floats."
