- Eighteen EBHS KIWIN'S members worked the 2006 Safe Halloween booth at Pioneer Village's #7 Pinkney House with over 4,400 candies given to the Trick or Treaters. - Bakersfield Pres. Kimberly McGee with Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Donald Vereen welcomed Mayor Ohashi & the Wakayama Sister City delegation to an interclub luncheon. - Kern Kiwanis Club held their 2nd Annual Pro-Am Golf Classic at Bakersfield Country Club with 36 foursomes plus a Pro. Photos, Results & Flyer Jim Burke Ford was our Presenting Sponsor with this event benefiting M.A.R.E Riding Center & other fine charities. Thanks to Pro-Am Golf Chair Joe Muller with the assistance of President Chris Strong and IPP Russ Allred for a successful event.

- Div. 33 Teen Government Day was hosted by Westchester Club Pres. Jim Parks at NOR Veterans Hall, 400 Norris Road in Oildale. Judge Mike Bush, the event coordinator and member of the Bakersfield Club, introduced the Div. 33 Clubs, High Schools and Government Officials in attendance. Supervisor Mike Maggard was the Keynote speaker.

- Kiwanis Blood Drive Day was held at NOR Veterans Hall, 400 Norris Road in Oildale at 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. FREE Lunch to Donors plus a FREE Cholesterol Test. Inspect "Half Pint" the new Kiwanis 3-bed Bloodmobile. If you didn't give blood on this Wednesday, be sure to donate anytime during the week at either Houchin Blood Bank locations and tell them Chair Bill Altmiller "Captain Blood" sent you.

- Childen's Welfare Chair Lynn Finch committee conducted The Salvation Army's Kid Christmas Party at 4417 Wilson Road - 5:00 p.m. with the help of Ruby Div. KIWIN'S: 15 East HS & 9 Ridgeview HS. Fifteen EBHS KIWIN'S wrapped 54 gifts on December 1st at Steve Snitchler's Kern Island Insurance Office.

- For KIWANIS One Day - March 6, 2007, Kern Kiwanis Club (22 & 1 guest) and East Bakersfield HS KIWIN'S (33) had a fun morning fishing at Hart Park's Mirror Lake. Each of the 27 Special Education students from Lamont Sunset School caught a rainbow trout furnished by Fish and Game Dept. Three Hart Park Rangers set up the fishing and BBQ areas. Lunch was prepared by the Kern chefs. Thanks to Co-Chairs Fred Kittredge & John Wagner for another "Take a Kid Fishing Day." Thanks to RA John Stephenson for organizing the KIWIN'S help. Photos

- Kern YCPO Chair Marti Tucker's committee conducted their 2nd Easter Basket Giveaway at Wayside Park for the Bakersdield Homeless Center kids and parents. Our hot dog cooks were PLG George Kates, VP Rick Guinn, John Jr. & PSDLG John Stephenson. The Kern ladies were active too: LGE Fuchsia Ward & Marti were handing out Easter Baskets plus Shirley Ventura & Ariana Enriquez shared time in the Easter Bunny suit. President Chris Strong dropped by to see if his Kern members were busy. At our March 22nd Club meeting, 200 Easter Bakets were assembled by Club members. On April 12th, Regional Advisor John Stephenson drove Ruby Division LTGs: 2006-07 Xochiltl Ramos and 2007-08 Marina Fernandez. On April 13th, Kern Kiwanis member Dodie Mosby drove EBHS school van with 9 KIWIN'S: Scholarship winner & Pres. Alex Maxwell, VP Nina Krauter, Sec. Olivia Snider, Treas. - 2007 Bakersfield ACS Relay For Life was held at CSUB on May 5-6, 2007. It is the 2nd largest with over 9,000 people, 315 teams, 1,400 cancer survivors in purple T-shirts and $1,544,200 exceeding their goal. SGD Chair PLG Phil Field introduced Mayor Harvey Hall to present the City Proclamation and PP Russ Allred to present a slide show on Kern's contributions during its 59 year history as the 2nd club and largest in Bakersfield. - Kern Kiwanis Club held their 59th Charter Night at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Belridge Room on May 24, 2007. VP Rick Guinn introduced Magician Ron Saylor who provided an entertaining program. PP Russ Allred reviewed the club history. PSDLG John Stephenson presented our two Charter Members: Dr. Steve Montgomery (1985-86 Pres.) and John Boydstun, Sr. (1961 Pres.).
