KERN CLUB 25TH HIXSON
On August 31, 2000 during a club meeting, PSDLG John Stephenson presented the 25th Hixson Fellowship to President-designate Rudy Barrera (#21569). (Left)
KERN CLUB 24TH HIXSON
On July 27, 2000 during a club meeting, Clint Douglass honored his grandson with the 24th Hixson Fellowship to Rick Douglass (#20858). (Middle)
DIV. 33's 9TH TABLET OF HONOR
On July 20, 2000 meeting, Tammy Lodermeier (South Bakersfield) was presented with the Div. 33 9th Tablet of Honor by her Kiwanis Dad PSDLG John Stephenson on her Birthday. The plaque was inscribed: For Many Years Of Unselfish Devotion To The Kern Kiwanis Club's Annual Milliom Dollar Hole-In-One Shootout. Tammy was the Co-Chair plus the voice and image of the 6th MDHIOS at Stroke Cutter. (Right)
KERN CLUB 22ND & 23RD HIXSONS
On June 20, 2000 during a club meeting, PSDLG John Stephenson presented the following two new Hixson Fellowships: #22 - Mike Daillak (#20401) and #23 - Charles Williams (#20404).
KERN CLUB 21ST HIXSON
On May 18, 2000 during a club meeting, PSDLG John Stephenson presented the 21st Hixson Fellowship to Byron Kilpatrick (#20277).
KIF AWARDS KERN CLUB THE SECOND HONORS CLUB BANNER
On April 3, 2000, Robert "Bob" McCurley Jr. wrote PSDLG John Stephenson, IDD Chair, the Kern Club joins a very special group of Kiwanis Clubs that have excelled in supporting the Tablet of Honor and George F. Hixson Fellowship programs. Kern Club has one TOH and twenty GFHFs. Westchester Club received the first Div. 33 Honor Club Banner last year.
KERN KIWANIAN PURCHASED FIFTH HIXSON
PSDLG John Stephenson purchased Hixson #7741 June 1997 in honor of his Mother, two Aunts and Uncle who had goiter in South Texas. John purchased his second Hixson #16681 August 1999 in the memory of Kern Kiwanian Randy Stephenson (middle son died on 7/16/98). He purchased his third Hixson #18428 November 1999 in memory of Shirley Stephenson (wife died on 10/29/94). In March 2000, John purchased his fourth and fifth Hixsons to honor his two living sons #19 - John Stephenson Jr. #19711 and #20 - William (Bill) Stephenson #19712. The Stephenson's have helped 100,000 kids not have IDD.
TWO MORE KERN CLUB HIXSONS
On March 18, 2000 during a club meeting, PSDLG John Stephenson presented the following two new Hixson Fellowships: #17 - David Rogers (#19947)and #18 - PP S/T John Cove (#19948).
KERN'S SIXTEENTH HIXSON AWARDED
On February 27, 2000 during the Governor's Official Visit, LGE Phil Field surprised Leah Field with a Hixson Fellowship (#19465). Cal-Nev-Ha Governor Terri Neumann made the presentation with Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Ray Hacker helping her.
FIRST NEW MEMBER & DKA IN 1999-2000 YEAR
Membership Growth Chair PSDLG John Stephenson sponsored the first new member Juanita George (former member). Kiwanis Education Chair Milo Hall performed the induction of Juanita. Also, John is the first Div. 33 and Kern member to complete the Distinguished Kiwanian Award criteria.
DECEMBER 1999 DCM
Although Christmas was in the air at Hodel's, "ET" had a group helping him home: Pres. Wally Pitchford, Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Ray Hacker (Rosedale) and PLG Wendall Kinney who wrote HAIL KIWANIS new version.
1999-2000 KERN KIWANIS INSTALLATON
On September 30, 1999, Kern Kiwanis Installation was held at Parkway Inn. Human and Spiritual Values Chair Michael Friedman presented the Layman of the Year Award to Past Pres. Rueben Perttula. Business & Public Affairs Chair John Boydstun, Sr. presented the Kiwanian of the Year Award to Richard Wiens (Not present). WSP/IDD Chair PSDLG John Stephenson presented Kern's 14th Hixson Award to Past Pres. Charles Neville. Thanks Charlie for your $1,000 donation that helped save 20,000 kids from IDD.
