FROM THE OFFICE OF LT. GOV. DIVISION 33

Division 33 is going well and is very active in our community. All twelve clubs are accomplishing what Kiwanis is meant to do; that is . . . Help people in need, from Special Olympics, Children's Miracle Network to scholarships, and other community commitments to the eradication of IDD.

Governor Reid Allen and First Lady Kathy's Official Visit to a division was well attended. Ours was the governors first Official Visit to a division.

Governor Reid Allen was impressed with the events, fund-raisers, projects and charities our division is involved with. Keep up the good work!

I want to thank all of you for your cooperation and wish you all HAPPY, HEALTHY AND SAFE HOLIDAYS.

Rudy and Bertha Arambula

Lt. Governor Division 33

BLOOD DRIVE A "DRIPPING SUCCESS"

The Division 33 Blood Drive held at the Norris Road Veterans Hall in Oildale and hosted by that club was able to draw 24 pints of blood; most go to the Houchin Blood Bank. The Division owes thanks to Bill Altmiller who chaired this event every year for the past *&^%( years! And, of course did his normal outstanding job. We also want to thank the Kern County Sheriff who, under the direction of Commander Stan Moe, sent down the new armored vehicle for our inspection. Stan did an outstanding job of bringing us up to date on the state of the Sheriff's department and crime activity in general in the Kern County area. Thank you Stan. (for those of you who don't know; Stan Moe is a long time, and past President of the Kiwanis Club in Oildale.)

We also want to thank the television stations and Kern radio for their participation and promulgation of the event.

One note. Out of almost 500 Kiwanians in our Division we should be able to garner a few more than 24 pints. Let endeavor to have at least a 25% participation for our next drive.

Once again thanks to one and all for the day.

SPIRITUAL AIMS MESSAGE:

. . ."suddenly, and angel appeared to the shepherds watching their flocks by night. The angel said "do not be afraid for I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of Bethlehem a savior has been born unto you. He is Christ the Lord.

This humble birth began the life of a man who never became rich, never held public office or wrote great pomes. But... no other man who ever lived has affected more people than the humble carpenter from Galilee - Jesus Christ.

Let us remember the reason we celebrate this season of the year is to commemorate his birth and the beginning of the saving of the world.

PUBLISHERS REQUEST

This message is primarily for Club Secretaries. When you send in your monthly report, and I know you'll get those in before the 10th of each month, please fax me a copy to (805) 397-8162. Along with the report, I would like a short note regarding activities your club has participated in, or any other information you would like to get out to the Division at large. I will endeavor to put it in the "Heartline". In order to secure printing in a timely manner, I really need the information before the 10th of the month.

Thank you much.
