The Kiwanis Club of South Bakersfield was chartered on December 17, 1965. Currently, the club has two Charter Members: PLG & Charter Pres. Mel Khachigian and PLG Harvey Brockmeyer.
Weekly luncheon meetings are held on Friday from 12:00-1:00 PM at the Petroleum Club of Bakersfield in Stockdale Towers, Mohawk St. & California Ave.

In the past to provide funds for Community Service Account, South Bakersfield Kiwanis Club has used the following fund-raisers: Sales of Kern County blankets & Bakersfield buckles, Entertainment coupon books, Garage sales and "Kids Safety Carnival" sales.
The South High Key Club is part of the Service Leadership Programs (SLP).
As of 9/30/10 in the WSP/IDD program, the South Bakersfield Club has given $6,638.42 or helped 132,768 kids from IDD. We rank 7th in Div. 33. The South Bakersfield Club has supported the WSP/IDD with 7 Hixsons: PP Filmore Bender, CP-PDLG Mel Khachigian, PLG Harvey Brockmeyer, PP Tammy Lodermeier, PLG Tom Johnson, Pres. Nathan Maragoni and PP David Bonderov. PP Tammy Lodermeier is a Tablet of Honor (Div. 33 #9) and a William A. Dunlap Fellow (#356) both given by her Kiwanis Dad PSDLG John Stephenson. In addition, PP David Bonderov is the newest William A. Dunlap Fellow (#774).
In the Div. 33 Bloodmobile Project (5/13/04), Div. 33 has raised $101,515.30 (or 100.11%) of the $101,400 cost to purchase a 3-bed unit for Houchin Blood Service. We have donated $4,532.25 (or 4.46%) and rank 8th place. Our Thousand Dollar Club members and order are as follows: PLG Filmore Bender (4) and PLG Rudy Arambula (28).
